386-2

There’s a reason why

Each star has their own position in the sky

The moon angles perfectly

We are all linked together for eternity.

Eternal you and me

Stuffed into our bodies

Until it’s just monotony.

The face of the moon isn’t smiling anymore

Teardrops fall as rain on the Earth’s floor

Somehow this expression of pain

Can cause a good person to go insane.

Careless words run from my mouth

I’m talking before my mind has figured it out

I leave words sprinkled like thorns

Affixed to anyone needing to be reborn

My presence here is not a mistake

Even though I’ve forgotten how to make cake

This is the time of saltiness and bitterness

Not a time of wishing things were different

I must be asking God for a lot

Because here I am again in the town fled by Lot

I caused harm last time I visited this place

My remorseful tears somehow met with grace

Death is so beautifully near

To make good on the promises I made in fear

And yet too many have gone so young

And before I go, I’d like a little more fun.
