Heal

Choosing a healing journey and/or spiritual journey means you are very brave and courageous because everything is going to change, starting with your mind. It can happen all at once and completely as it did with Byron Katie and the Buddha*, or it can be a slow unraveling of old thoughts replaced by small awakenings and new thoughts/perceptions. My mindset change was the slow and painful kind and it started with one book; one book read in a very desperate state. (We tend to be more persuadable in a state of desperation and big changes can come during or right after a crisis). I read Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson at age 24 or 25, having lost everything – my career, my daughter, my car, my home, my safety, my freedom, myself. It taught me that even though I believed I was a victim of the world, that everything was happening to me and I had no personal power, this was not the case. I begin to think that perhaps instead of the world happening to me, I could happen to the world. I slowly begin to understand that I might have the power to change my life and live a life that was meaningful to me.

You will find in this section many tools I have used to change my mindset, finally stepping into my full personal power and creating a life I enjoy living.

I have used a multitude of methods usually using two or more on a daily bases, switching them out as needed. Some of the methods I used in my healing journey are:

  • LOTS of reading
  • Journaling prompts/suggestions
  • Listening to those teaching success principles over and over
  • Breathing
  • Affirmations
  • Meditation
  • EFT/Tapping
  • Prayer
  • Awareness
  • Challenging thoughts as they come up and replacing them with thoughts more in alignment with my Highest Self/my path
  • A Course in Miracles Daily Lessons completing the full year of lessons
  • Releasing generational trauma
  • Songs
  • Vision boards
  • Goal writing
  • Utilizing the “hour of power”
  • Manifesting
  • Law of Attraction (at first)
  • 12 Universal Spiritual Laws (later)
  • Power of my word – declaring my good outloud
  • Using the power of scripture with manifesting
  • Visualizing
  • Healing trapped emotions via hot yoga, massage, and movement
  • Crystal Work

  • A lot of crying/releasing
  • Workshops/groups

*For clarification the Buddha and Byron Katie were true seekers and truly desired a complete shift in their mindset. The Buddha sat underneath a Bodhi tree until he attained enlightenment. For Byron Katie, she was at the end of her rope and had been in daily prayer for over two years for help. You can read Byron Katie’s experience of awakening here.
